Crops Farming

Twin Oak Farms plants and harvests corn, soybeans, hay, and spelt most of which is utilized to keep the herd well fed. Land conservation is important to how we do business and we have been honored by the Ashland County Soil and Water District as the Outstanding Cooperator of the year three times since 1967 for the use of conservational farming practices. These practices include no-til planting, rotational grazing, and various water management techniques.

Tubing hay for winter feed

Making the hay needed to sustain our herd through the winter months takes multiple steps and cooperative weather and machinery. Each year we harvest 3-4 cuttings from our hay fields that result in about 350 tons of hay.
